New Beginnings: Australian and American Duos for Flute and Music showcases the shared American and Australian spirit of adventure and opportunity through the collaborative partnership of an American flautist and Australian-Taiwanese pianist, and that traces the establishment of the American and Australian classical music traditions after the introduction of European traditions into the ‘New World.’

The Occeña-Chen Duo, a flute and piano chamber consort, comprises of American flutist Hannah Porter-Occeña and Australian-Taiwanese pianist Belle Chen. The OC Duo was formed in 2011 with the goal of cultivating new classical music audiences through innovative programming, community outreach, encouraging cultural exchange and understanding through collaboration with other artists and musicians, and enhancing awareness of the American and Australian classical music traditions. Both Occeña, hailed by the New York Times as possessing “rich tone and deft technique,” and Chen, praised for her recent "bravado performance" at Colston Hall, are distinguished soloists. When performing together as the Occeña-Chen Duo, Occeña and Chen demonstrate an equal partnership between flute and piano and work together to perform chamber music, and The Occeña-Chen Duo have enjoyed numerous UK engagements to date.
